Terms to study for 3rd test/final (Fall 2007)
As the syllabus says, the third test will be held during the regularly scheduled final exam period on Thursday, Dec. 13, in a lecture room, Jesse Wrench Auditorium. We will only need an hour, so the test will given 9-10AM. You may come earlier if you like, I will not distribute any tests until 8:45 at the earliest. The test will not cumulative, and will be in exactly the same format as the other two. That means, yes, you will need a blue book.
A term sheet to study has been posted here as a pdf instead of as a blog post -- it should print out a lot better. Please ask any questions as comments here, but please no open-ended "repeat-the-lecture" questions.
The papers will be returned at the final.

Is there any way we can get an update on what our grades look like? I would like to know what I need to do on this test to pass if that is possible. If not, thats ok too.
Thank you very much!
agreed!
yeah i was kinda of wondering if that was possible as well
From a TA's perspective:
The grades should be fairly easy to calculate. You have your past exam and paper scores (which dominate you course grade anyway) and in the syllabus is a breakdown of the point allotment. Any specific concerns over grades should be directed toward your TA, but you should always try your best on exams regardless of your current grade. What do you need to do on the exam is to pass it with the best score possible. It is pointless to play the numbers game and possibly guess what your final exam score could be. Students get so caught up on this that they spend more time worrying about that than actually preparing for the exam. Just study hard and you'll do fine.
How many points was the extra credit blog worth?
can we use loose leaf paper instead of a blue book if we bring a stapler?
The kids were out of school two days this week, so please excuse my delay in responding.
In answer to the questions:
-- INTERIM GRADES: See the above posting, and then ask your TA if you must. Keep in mind that we are not allowed to publicly post grades in any way.
-- EXTRA CREDIT BLOG POST will be counted as one posting equal to the others. It will replace one you missed. There is no elaborate point system like they have in my son's junior high classes.
-- BLUE BOOKS are preferred, but loose leaf paper and a stapler will not be refused in a pinch.
