Please include the newly posted readings from Professor Pasley in your readings for this week. They tie closely to what we are discussing.
Thanks,

Though we have a democracy, everything in society today has rules and is dictated to us. There are rules and regulation to tell us how to do everything and I do believe that this is a mild for of patriarchy. We do have a president that has ample power over the next person of authority. Our government similarly does compare to the Native American ways at all. When they took the English captive, they forced their ways on them. Thought the Native Americans thought that they were good people and were teaching good things they still took people prisoner and forced their language and mannerisms on the captives. The males in the Native American culture were dominant too. Whatever they said or did was the precedent for how to do things. The women did not really play a role in ruling or setting rules for things. They were expected to abide by and support. Today our society is very much similar. Thought there is supposed to be less discrimination, I still feel that it is a male dominant society. Women definitely have a voice but we are a minority as well. The laws are the patriarchs who dictate to us and we have to abide by them. I feel as Americans, we push our ways onto others that enter this country. There are so many different cultures and we fail to recognize them. Instead we act like the Indians, and assume that the system that we have is the best and that we do not need any outside contributions.
